The UV protection afforded by Belfasun™ is tested according to the Germn UV Standard 801, the internationally most stringent specification of its type and one that takes into full account realistic usage patterns.

     In this test process, the UVA and UVB radiation
     shield  afforded by the textile is investigated to
     determine its overall ultraviolet protection factor
     (UPF). The screening effect must remain intact, even
     after numerous laundry cycles. The values achieved
     are always rounded down in order to provide
     maximum security for the consumer. Fabrics
     successfully tested according to Standard 801 can
     carry a UV protection mark guaranteeing sun shield
                                         values of up to UPF 80.
