As a specialty chemicals company whose business strategy is deeply connected to the use of raw materials from nature, Cognis is highly sensitive to issues relating to ecology and environmental protection. And we feel an equally deep sense of responsibility toward the social, community and ethical aspects of sustainability.

Cognis Germany’s activities are part of the company’s global approach to sustainability, which is guided by the Sustainability Policy. This policy consists of ten statements that explain how Cognis intends to conduct its business in a sustainable way. It covers areas such as environmental protection, the 24 Principles of Green Chemistry and Green Engineering, staff development, and the importance of safety in Cognis’ day-to-day operations.

Safety standards, environmental compatibility and product quality are ensured by Cognis’ SHEQ Management (SHEQ = safety, health, environment and quality). Cognis Germany is part of a regional and global network of internal and external experts. The German sites have to adhere to the same strict regulations as all other Cognis units worldwide.

With its Code of Conduct, Cognis has committed itself to upholding the highest ethical standards in all of its business practices and to complying with all applicable statutory requirements. This code has to be followed by all of Cognis’ employees around the world, as well as by everyone else who represents Cognis in any capacity.
